An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on August 22nd 2017 between 2:30pm and 4:45pm. There were 38 children in the direct care of 7 staff members. Children were observed being fed, being diapered, napping, and washing hands. Staff were observed to be engaged with the children that were not napping by providing books or talking with them. Staffing records, children's records, emergency plan, fire inspection, physical space, and supervision were observed and inspected. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the infant room, cleaning materials were in an unlocked cabinet beneath the sink. Plan of Correction: I will move the cleaners to a new location.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation, resilient surfacing was not in all playground fallzones. Evidence: The area directly under the climbing dome does not have mulch. The area is bare and the ground is visible. Plan of Correction: Will have it completed by September 11th.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-420-E-3 Description: Based on record review, 2 of 5 children's records were not documented to have been reviewed annually by parents. Evidence: Child #1 last had a review on 4/25/2015. Child #3 last had a review on 10/19/2015. Plan of Correction: Will sit down with the parents and correct them.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-L Description: Based on observation, an infant walker was in the older infant day care space. Evidence: The state standard does not allow for infant walkers to be used. Plan of Correction: Removed during time of inspection.
