Technical Assistance:
Discussed upcoming changes to the criminal history background checks and all staff completing the Virginia Pre-Service Training within 90 days of hire.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:00am-11:30am. At the time of inspection, 51 children (12 mos through five years) were directly supervised by 7 staff and ratios were in compliance. The sample size consisted of 5 children records and 5 staff records. Children were observed during morning arrival, engaged in group sharing, and building with blocks. Handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. In the Pre K-2 classroom, a 5" area of chipping paint was found below the window. 2. In the Beginners classroom, the plastic pockets on the monthly calendar were cracking and ripped. 3. On the playground, several windows screens were ripping and a black cord was hanging down from one of the windows. Chipping paint was found on the baseboard along the back of the building and the chain link fence separating the areas of playgrounds.

Plan of Correction: The building maintenance worker will be arriving Tuesday to begin fixing indoor and outdoor issues.
