A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was conducted on September 7, 2017 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. Licensing inspector arrived at 8:30am and departed at 12:30pm. At the time of the tour there were 35 children, ranging from infants to five years old, present with six staff members. Additional staff persons were on site for administrative and support purposes. Children were observed in circle time, doing table top activities that included cutting, scooping, gluing and sorting. The children were also observed having snack which consisted of bananas, apple juice and crackers. Five children's records and six staff records were reviewed on this date. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-005-B Description: Based on review, the vendor did not ensure that for each group of children, the vendor shall maintain a written record (hard copy) of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs. Evidence: Departure times were not maintained for two children in care as it occurred on the date of the inspection. Plan of Correction: Departure times will added.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-D Description: Based on inspection of the facility, the vendor did not ensure that orientation training for staff covered all required topics within seven days of the date of employment or the date of subsidy vendor approval. Evidence: There was no documentation that the following facility specific topics had been covered within seven days of employment or the date of subsidy vendor approval: emergency preparedness plan, shaken baby syndrome, safe sleep and food allergies. Plan of Correction: The orientation training will be rectified within two weeks.
