Comments:
Thank you for your assistance during this unannounced monitoring inspection. This on-site inspection was conducted on September 18, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. through 2:45 p.m. At the time of visit, there were a total of seventy-two (72) children in the care of twenty (20) staff. Nine (9) staff records and seven (7) children's records were reviewed. There are a total of one-hundred thirty-six (136) children in care. No medication is being administered at this time. Areas observed were free choice play, movement, lunch, hand washing bathroom procedures, transition and nap. Interactions observed between the children and staff were positive and the children seem comfortable with the daily routine and schedule. There are a wide variety of age/stage materials for the children in care. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A
Description: Based on record review there was no documentation of an annual fire inspection. 1. The most recent fire inspection was dated 08/31/2016. 2. The director confirmed the fire inspection had not been completed.

Plan of Correction: The fire inspector has been contacted. We will contact him again to schedule an inspection. A copy of the inspection will be sent to the licensing inspector.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B
Description: Based on observation the mulch under the outside swings measured less than 6 inches in depth. Evidence: Observation and discussion with the director confirmed the mulch under the swing set measured less than 6 inches.

Plan of Correction: Rain had recently washed away the mulch underneath the swing set. New mulch will be added to ensure the measurement is six inches or greater.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F
Description: Based on observation, milk was not served during lunch. Evidence: 1. Children were eating lunch in the cafeteria. Orange Kool-Aid was given as the beverage. 2. The director confirmed milk had not be served during lunch.

Plan of Correction: The cafeteria worker was in training and staff forgot to give the children milk. Staff will be reminded milk is always to be served for lunch.
