Licensing inspector arrived at 10:15am and departed at 1:05pm to conduct an unannounced monitoring inspection. During the inspection there were 51 children ages four months old to three years old in care with 16 staff. Children were observed eating lunch, participating in outdoor activities, various classroom activities, and during rest period. The sample size was five children's records and 34 staff records. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice, and were discussed during the exit interview with the Program Director.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that a nonabsorbent surface for diapering or changing is used. Evidence: 1. The changing pad on the diaper changing table in classroom #114 had a one inch tear on it. 2. Staff #1 (Program Director) confirmed that there was a tear in the diaper changing pad. Plan of Correction: The facility responded: The torn diaper changing pad was replaced with a new diaper changing pad during the inspection. Extra diaper changing pads are kept at the facility and teacher swill be reminded to inform management when a diaper changing pad needs to be replaced.
