22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director beginning at 7:20 AM and ending at 9:00 AM. There were twenty-two school aged children in care during the inspection. The children were observed learning colors in sign language and playing ?red light/green light?. The children were also observed eating breakfast which consisted of cheese and egg sandwich or cereal, banana, orange juice, and milk. Restroom and handwashing procedures were observed. Five children?s records and two staff records were reviewed and in compliance. Five medications were reviewed and in compliance. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather-band radio were observed and in compliance. The emergency evacuation log was reviewed and determined to be in compliance. The most recent emergency evacuation drill was documented as September 1, 2017. The most recent lockdown drill was documented as September 1, 2017. The most recent shelter-in-place drill was documented as September 8, 2017. The most recent health inspection documented as May 1, 2017. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A Description: Based on a review of documentation it was determined the facility did not have a current annual fire inspection. Evidence: There was no documentation of the most recent fire inspection. Plan of Correction: The director has notified the Area Director and school personnel regarding the fire inspection not being completed. The director has requested documentation from the school once the inspection is conducted.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, not all of the hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method to prevent access by children. Evidence: There was a bottle of cleaning solution on top of a cabinet that was accessible to children. Plan of Correction: The center will ensure that all hazardous substances are kept in a locked place.
