A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 09/25/17 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. Licensing Inspector arrived at 3:50pm and departed at 6:15pm to conduct a Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection. At the time of the tour there were 15 children in care with 2 staff present. Children were observed eating snack, coloring, doing homework and playing with tabletop activities. The vendor did not have any medications at the time of inspection. A sample of 2 children and 2 staff records were also reviewed. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-006-B-11 Description: Based on a record review the vendor failed to ensure a written allergy care plan for available for each child with a diagnosed food allergy. Evidence: Child #1 had written documentation of an allergy to green and red peppers. The vendor did not have a written action plan for child #1 with steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. Plan of Correction: The vendor will contact child #1's parent and obtain a written allergy plan signed by the doctor to address steps to be taken if child #1 has an allergic reaction. The child currently does not have any medication.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-B Description: Based on a record review and interview the vendor failed to ensure all staff had completed the VIrginia Preservice Training for Childcare Staff within the first 90 days of employment. Evidence: Staff #1, hired 02/27/17 did not have documentation of having completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Childcare Staff. Staff #1 was one of 2 staff present during the inspection. Staff #1 stated she has not completed the training. Plan of Correction: Staff #1 will complete the Preservice training as soon as possible.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-031-A Description: Based on a record review the vendor failed to ensure all required components were included in the written emergency preparedness plan. Evidence: The vendor's emergency plan did not include reunification plans in the event of an evacuation, shelter-in-place or Intruder procedures. Plan of Correction: Reunification plans will be added to the emergency plans.
