Technical assistance was provided in the following areas of the standards: 22VAC40-185-(4)-270-A (Building maintenance)
An unannounced mandated inspection was completed on 9/28/17 from 10:13am and ended at 11:15am. At the end of the inspection there were 6 children in care with 3 staff. Children were observed participating in age activities and diaper changing. The sample size was 6 children's records and 3 staff records that where reviewed. The violation cited was in the area of play spaces and appears on the violation notice, and was discussed with the Program Director during the exit interview..
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-370-5 Description: Based on observation of the play space in the infant room, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that any infant in care is allowed to use a walker. Evidence: 1. The Licensing Inspectors observed child #1 utilizing a walker in the infant play space of the center. Additionally, there was another walker in the Infant classroom that was not being used. 2. Staff #1 and staff #3 confirmed child #1 was allowed to use a walker. Both staff stated that they didn't know that walkers were not allowed. Plan of Correction: The facility responded: The two walkers were removed from the classroom, and children will not be allowed to use a walker while in care.
