An exit meeting was completed by the licensing inspector with the center's director to review the findings of today's inspection.
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from approximately 10:40 am to 12:45 pm to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. During this inspection, the preschool's director was present and accompanied the licensing inspector throughout this inspection. The inspector was notified that the program was hosting a "Getting to Know You" picnic for the children and families on site today immediately after dismissal. The census for today's inspection consisted of 59 children. The licensing inspector completed observation of the children in the various classroom settings. The Pre-K children were observed by the inspector completing various activities to include playing outside at the playground area, preparing for snack time, reading books, sitting on the carpet for circle time with staff listening to music and storytime, engaged in activity with peers and transitioning indoors from outside play. The licensing inspector also completed observation of the staff completing head counts and providing instruction to the children. The children's snacks were observed by the inspector being labeled properly. A formal observation was completed in Busy Bear's classroom 3 in which the children were eating their snacks and the staff shared how the children participated in a science experiment today called, "Do you think an apple will roll?" The children in the Twos group were observed by the inspector engaged in center activities with staff and playing with age appropriate toys with peers. The inspector interacted with the staff and children throughout the inspection when appropriate. The classrooms were equipped with age appropriate toys, and supplies. During this inspection, the classrooms, bathrooms, supply areas, and playground and equipment were inspected. The staff were observed providing adequate supervision and addressing the children's overall needs. During this inspection, the required postings were reviewed and determined to be in compliance. The following information was reviewed: daily attendance, license, fire and shelter-in-place drills, fire and health inspections. There were five children?s records and three employee records reviewed during this inspection. During this inspection, some licensing standards were reviewed but not all of the standards. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected.
If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact your licensing inspector, Tiffany Harris, at (804) 662-9772.
