Technical Assistance:
Inspector spoke with the center about emergency procedures during this inspection.

Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 10/6/2017 was conducted from 10:15am-12:25pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. At the time of inspectors' arrival there were 43 infant to preschool aged children in care with 8 staff members and 1 administrator. Children were observed participating in indoor play, lunch, classroom instruction, transitioning between activities, hand washing and nap. A sample of 5 children's records and 6 staff records were reviewed. Medications are not being administered at this time. There have been no injury reports since the last inspection. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements are detailed on the Violation Notice and were discussed with the Assistant Director at the conclusion of this inspection.

Standard #: VENDSUB-000-005-B
Description: Based on record review it was determined that the center did not ensure that a written record (hard copy) of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occur was maintained. Evidence: The Assistant Director reported that the attendance with arrival and departure times were not kept.

Plan of Correction: Center will document each child's arrival and departure times.

Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-B
Description: Based on record review it was determined that each staff member had not completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment. Evidence: Staff #3(hired 6/6/17) had not completed the required Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.

Plan of Correction: Staff #3 will complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.

Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-E-1
Description: Based on record review it was determined that the center did not ensure that each staff person had current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of children in care. Evidence: Staff #3(hired 6/6/17) did not have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of children in care.

Plan of Correction: Staff #3 is scheduled to attend a class this month as she was unable to attend the last class due to a family emergency.

Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-E-2
Description: Based on record review it was determined that the center did not ensure that each staff person had current certification in first aid appropriate to the age of children in care. Evidence: Staff #3(hired 6/6/17) did not have current certification in first aid.

Plan of Correction: Staff #3 is scheduled to attend a class this month as she was unable to attend the last class due to a family emergency.
