The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection that began at the center at 9:50am and concluded with staff record reviews at the central office at 1:30pm. There were twenty four children in care: three infants with two staff, seven toddlers with two staff and fourteen preschool children with three staff. One additional staff was also present at the center. The children were observed enjoying a "cooking experience," at story time and playing on the playground. Five staff's records and five children's records were reviewed. One violation from the previous inspection had been corrected. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. If you have any questions, please contact your licensing inspector at (276) 608-3758. Thank you for your cooperation.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on review of medication documentation, the center failed to obtain all required authorizations for medication. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the medications and reviewed the authorizations. In child record #5, there was an authorization from the physician for nose drops; however, there was no authorization from the parent. The nose drops have been administered. Plan of Correction: The center will provide the authorization form to the parent today and request that the form be completed and returned to the center.
