An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:00 am until 12:20pm. At the time of the tour, there were 30 children in care with 5 staff. A sample of 5 children's records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Children were observed engaging in morning program activities, snack time and handwashing. Medication, children's incident reports and the emergency preparedness plan was also reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed with the center director during the exit interview.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-A Description: Based on record review and interview, the center did not ensure that each staff member submit documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening no later than 21 days after employment. Evidence: 1. The record for staff #1 did not contain documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening. 2. Staff #1 has a documented hire date of 8/31/17 and was working at the center the day of the inspection. 3. The center director confirmed that staff #1 had not submitted documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening. Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following: Staff #1 has scheduled a doctor's appointment for 10/24/17 and the TB test should be read by the end of the week.
