T.A. on medication paperwork was discussed.
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection from 11:40 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There were 14 children in care with 3 staff. The children were observed during lunch, at circle time, coming in from outside and preparing for naps. Five staff records were reviewed at the main office from 10:00-11:00 and five children?s records were reviewed at the center. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A-7 Description: Evidence: 1.The inspector reviewed five children's files. Child file #1 had allergies listed from a physician, however the parent had not completed action to take in an emergency. Plan of Correction: Staff will get the information from the parent.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation and measurement, the center did not have the required resilient surfacing. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed grass in the fall zone of the single slide on the playground. 2. Measurement of mulch was 3-4 inches under the yellow climber and under the 3 foot tall platforms. Plan of Correction: Staff will keep children off of the equipment until the resilient surfacing has been fluffed and rearranged. A separate playground for head start is being built.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not have an emergency medication available. Evidence: 1. The inspector reviewed a child's file (#1) that had a physician's order for an emergency medication in case of an allergic reaction and the medication was not available. 2. Staff #1 stated the parent had not brought in the medication. Another emergency medication was available. Plan of Correction: The teacher will get the parent to bring in the medication.
