The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from approximately 11:15AM to 1:40PM. There were a total of 12 children being supervised by three staff members during the inspection. The children were observed eating lunch, having books read to them, playing outside, and resting at nap time. Staff was observed providing assistance when needed and engaged in conversations with children. The following information was reviewed during the inspection: daily attendance, emergency drill logs, emergency supplies, parent agreements, and staff training information. Last documented health inspection occurred on 09/01/17 and the last documented fire inspection occurred on 09/06/17. Staff stated there were not any medications for the children present at the facility at this time. The large classroom, bathrooms, hallways and outside play areas were inspected. During the inspection, five children's records and three staff records were reviewed. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact Licensing Inspector, Lynn Powers at (804) 662-9790.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on review of five children's records, one record did not contain the required information. Evidence: During the inspection, the licensing inspector observed the record for Child #5 (start date 09/15/15) did not contain two emergency contacts along with their physical address and phone number other than the parents or guardians. Plan of Correction: We will ask the family for two emergency contacts and their information.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-A Description: Based on review of documentation and interview, the center did not ensure there was an emergency preparedness plan that addresses staff responsibility and facility readiness with respect to emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place. Evidence: During the inspection, the licensing inspector reviewed the emergency preparedness plan that was present at the facility. The plan had been developed for the previous location. During a previous inspection, the previous member of management stated a local official with the fire department was reviewing the plan. The emergency preparedness plan is required to be developed for the current location. Plan of Correction: We will follow up with the administrative office and locate or replace the emergency preparedness plan.
