An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was conducted on October 30, 2017 from approximately 3:55 p.m. until 5:40 p.m. Upon entrance there were 14 children in care and 3 staff present with children. The record review sample consisted of 5 children's records and the on site required documentation for 3 staff records. Children were observed playing with board games, preparing for and eating snack. The results of the inspection were reviewed with the center director. Areas of non-compliance are noted on the violation notice. Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-F Description: Based on observation and interviews, the vendor did not ensure all staff providing care to children shall have within 30 days of the date of employment or 90 days from subsidy vendor approval CPR and first aid training. Evidence: During the inspection on October 30, 2017, staff #2 did not have documentation of obtaining CPR and first aid training. Staff #2 confirmed they have been employed since October 2008. Plan of Correction: Newport News PR & T maintains CPR & first aid certification of all full time staff. Administration will continue to work toward certification of all other staff.
