- Technical Assistance:
As a reminder, staff are in ratio only when supervising children. We discussed the importance of staff communicating with each other, such as by using walkie-talkie's if there is a need to go to conduct a task and to ensure adequate staff coverage of an activity. Also, we talked about the need for a review of your behavior management policies and appropriate procedures while dealing with disruptive behavior.
Thank you for your assistance during the unannounced renewal inspections conducted on October 23, 2017, from 12:55 PM to 1:45 PM, for a review of records at the main office and on November 2, 2017, from 3:00 PM to 6:45 PM, at the school site. On November 2, 2017, thirty-four children, ages five through twelve years, were supervised by two to five staff during after school hours. It was reported that fifteen school age children received supervision by two staff before school. I viewed program activities, staffing, supervision, interactions with children, equipment, daily routines, snack, nutrition, medication, injury reports, emergency supplies and drill records, posted information, five records for children, six staff records, staff qualifications, staff training, agency inspection reports, emergency plan, written procedures, insurance, indoor and outdoor areas. The children were provided active play opportunities in the gym and outdoors. Homework assistance was provided in a separate room. The children were able to choose from a variety of available table activities. Staff provided oversight of children's staggered arrival times and departures.
Issuance of a renewed license will be recommended. Let me know if you need any assistance. 540/430-9259
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
