Discussed improved ways of documenting the lead teacher qualifications in one central location. Discussed the background check changes and the upcoming fingerprint requirements for all staff.
An unannounced Renewal inspection was conducted this date. A total of 83 children present with 16 staff. All ten classrooms were observed. Children were in circle time for the morning activities, staff were observed reading books to the children and engaging them with questions about the book. Table top activities observed consisted of water color painting and smaller groups with a lead teacher reviewing counting and colors. One class transitioned to outdoor play before the rain. Staff were interviewed regarding evacuation procedures, medications and food allergies for the children in their classes. Positive interactions were observed between staff and children. Two parents observed dropping children off in the morning and expressed overall contentment. Thank you for your cooperation today. This inspection began at 9:15am and ended at 1:30pm. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation of the physical plant, hazardous substances were found unlocked. Evidence: A chlorine cleaner was found unlocked and accessible to children under the sink area in the school age classroom. Purex laundry detergent was found unlocked under the sink area and accessible to children in the Art Studio classroom. A disinfectant spray bottle was found in the top cabinet in the Inventor's Workshop classroom. Plan of Correction: We will secure all of these cleaning agents immediately. The laundry detergent was secured during the inspection.
