Discussed fire drills and upcoming changes to background checks.

Comments:
Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 10:10am and 12:30pm. At the start of the inspection there were a total of 12 children with 5 staff. A total of 5 children?s files and 5 staff files were reviewed. The children were observed playing outside, practicing sight words, preparing for lunch and other organized activities. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C
Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain a TB screening every two years. Evidence: Staff #3 TB screening was dated 9/25/2015. A subsequent TB screening was not provided.

Plan of Correction: She will go tomorrow.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A
Description: Based on record review, staff records did not contain all required information. Evidence: Staff #2 file is missing the name and phone number of a person to be contacted in case of an emergency.

Plan of Correction: This was corrected during today's inspection.

Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-3
Description: Based on record review and staff interview, the center allowed staff to continue employment and supervise children without obtaining an out-of-state central registry check from outside the Commonwealth of Virginia. Evidence: Staff #1 (date of hire: 12/7/2015 )and Staff #6 (date of hire: 6/16/2014) sworn disclosure statements confirmed that both employee's had lived outside of the state of Virginia in the last five years. Center management did not submit the required out-of-state central registry by September 1, 2017.

Plan of Correction: I did not know that I needed to send out another check. We looked up the state checks today during the inspection and we will get it sent out this week.
