Discussion regarding diapering
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 9:10 a.m. and ending at 11:45 a.m. with the director and assistant director. There were seven children in care ranging in age from two years of age to five years old with two staff. Two and three year olds were observed during outdoor playtime. Four and five year olds were observed at centers that included blocks. After centers, four and fives had outdoor playtime. After outdoor playtime, children prepared for lunch. Lunch today was chicken stirfry, fried rice with vegetables, oranges and milk. Classrooms and supplies were observed. The playground was inspected. Emergency drills were reviewed. Four children's records and three staff records, including one new staff record were reviewed. If you have questions regarding this inspection, contact Stephanie Reed at (540) 272-6558 or S.Reed@dss.virginia.gov.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation, the resilient surfacing under playground equipment was not sufficient in fall zones at least six inches deep. Evidence: Pea gravel was measured at two to three inches in depth in front and side of the metal climbing structure, five inches in front of the blue slide. There were three inches of pea gravel measured near the climbing structure and monkey bars. There were several areas of dirt observed under the swings and 1/2 inch of pea gravel measured. Plan of Correction: Quotes have been obtained for different resilient surfacing. Poured in place surfacing cannot be installed during cold weather. Pricing out options and a final decision will be made soon.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of documentation, the center failed to obtain satisfactory central registry finding within thirty days. Evidence: Staff #2, hired 8/21/2017, did not have central registry finding in the record. Plan of Correction: There was a paperwork error for the central registry check and it has been resent. The status of the background check will be followed up on today.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
