Discussed current and upcoming changes to the background check regulations.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:00am-11:15am. At the time of inspection, 80 children (infants through five years) were directly supervised by 16 staff and ratios were in compliance. The sample size consisted of 5 children records and 5 staff records. Children were observed playing in centers throughout the classroom, during outdoor play time, and engaged in a group soccer game, Diapering and handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Repeat violations with building maintenance were found and are identified in this report. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector at email@example.com
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas of the center were not maintained in a clean and safe condition. Evidence: In the Infant, Beginner, and Pre-Kindergarten classrooms, ongoing renovations exposed areas of chipped and peeling paint on the walls. In the Infant classroom, trim had been removed and the base of the wall was splintering. Plan of Correction: Maintenance is scheduled to be finished by December.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on review of five medications, the center did not have written authorization to administer prescription medication to two children in care. Evidence: Child #1 and Child #2 had prescription medications available without written authorization forms from parents. Plan of Correction: We will send home the medication forms with parents today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-C Description: Based on observation, diaper ointments and creams were stored in an area that was not inaccessible to children. Evidence: In the 2's and 3's bathroom, diaper ointments and creams were stored in a low, unlocked plastic drawer. Plan of Correction: Ointments will be moved to the cabinet.
