- Technical Assistance:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection Monday, November 13, 2017 from 10:35am to 11:35am. The children were observed playing with animals, blocks and pretend food in the learning centers. A formal observation was completed with this group. Later the children were observed cleaning up and preparing for large group time. The center does not provide transportation at this time. Afterwards an announced monitoring inspection was completed at the main office to review staff records. The inspector was there from 12:30pm to 2:42pm. Five children's records and four employee records were reviewed during this inspection. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last emergency drill: 10/24/2017 Last shelter-in-place drill: 03/01/2017 Last fire inspection: 02/20/2017 Last health inspection: 09/12/2017 Total enrollment: 14 Today, the following child to staff ratios were observed: Preschool (3-5 years old)-14:2 The violations from previous inspections were checked for corrections. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a review of children's records on 11/13/2017, the center did not ensure that one of five records reviewed contained the work number for each parent when applicable. EVIDENCE: The record of Child #1 did not have documentation of a phone number for the place of employment listed for the child's mother. Plan of Correction: Call the case manager today to let her know what's missing in the child's record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation on 11/13/2017, the center did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, shall be kept in a locked place. EVIDENCE: Cleaning supplies, such as Pine-Sol, disinfectant spray and insect spray, were observed on a top shelf in the closet in the office. The closet and office was unlocked. The supplies were out of the reach of the children in care. Plan of Correction: Will make sure to lock up cleaning supplies in the medicine closet. Will let other teacher know to do so as well.
