- Technical Assistance:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on November 29, 2017 at 12:00 and concluded at 1:45 p.m. The inspector met with the staff and Child Day Center standards were reviewed.
The following staff-to-child ratio and activities were observed:
There were 21 children (ages 4-11 years) with three staff. The children were observed having quiet time and reading and some children were finishing up with their lunch.
Three staff records were reviewed.
Five children's records were reviewed.
One classroom observation conducted.
Conversations held with four staff and some children.
No children were on medications today.
Monthly evacuation drill conducted on 10/28/17.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation the center did not have all cleaning supplies locked. Evidence: On 11/29/17, the inspector found Windex window cleaner sitting on the floor in the bathroom used by the children. Plan of Correction: This was corrected immediately. The Windex was locked while inspector was on site.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation the center did not have all outlets capped.
On 11/29/17, the inspector observed four outlets without protective covers. The uncapped outlets were in the large classroom area on the first level of the main building.
Plan of Correction: The teachers capped the outlets with protective covers while the inspector was on site.
