22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
Today an unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between the hours of 3:30pm and 5:00pm. I observed 16 children with 2 staff members. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed, washing hands, eating snack, doing homework and crafts. Staff were actively engaged with the children and assisting them with tasks as needed. Today's snack consisted of CapriSun Fruit Punch and Snack Mix. The cafeteria was found to be clean, safeguarded appropriately, and adequately supplied with equipment and supplies. Emergency preparedness supplies in order. Required documents posted. Record keeping was in compliance. Questions about this inspection may be directed to: email@example.com
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on review of children records, the center did not maintain complete children's records. Evidence: Child1, child2 and child3 are missing parent's place of employment information. Child2 is missing an address for both emergency contacts. Plan of Correction: I will request the information from parents.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-1 Description: Based on record review and staff interview, the center did not have at least one staff member on duty who have medication administration training (MAT), to administer medication to children in care. Evidence: Two emergency prescription medications were found on-site, an Epinephrine Auto-Injector and an Albuterol inhaler. There were two staff members on-site, neither one of them were certified in MAT. Plan of Correction: Both staff members will take the class this Saturday.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on review of the emergency response drills record, the center did not have documentation that a drill was conducted in the month of October. Evidence: An emergency evacuation drill was documented for the month of September, and for the month of November. There was no documentation that a drill was conducted in October. Plan of Correction: We will make sure that all drills are documented.
