An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:15am-12:30pm. At the time of inspection, approximately 200 children (infants through five years) were in care and ratios were in compliance. Children were observed during creative time, completing a science experiment with soap, engaged in group singing, having circle time with stories, and outdoor play time. Several children were observed using the indoor recreation space. Artwork and children's projects were displayed throughout the center. Diapering and handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, the center failed to cover all unused electrical outlets accessible to children under five years of age with child-resistant protective covers. Evidence: In classroom 202 (Rainbow Room), three outlets were observed without protective covers. Plan of Correction: Corrected at the time of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-C Description: Based on observation, the center failed to store diaper ointments and creams in an area inaccessible to children. Evidence: In classroom 202 (Rainbow Room), diaper ointments and creams were stored in a low cabinet that did not properly lock. Plan of Correction: Corrected at the time of inspection.
