Discussed forms of communication with parents in the event of an emergency and staff behavioral guidance.

Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 11:45am and 3:40pm. At the start of the inspection there were a total of 63 children with 11 staff in direct care of the children. A total of 5 children?s files and 5 staff files were reviewed. The children were observed having bottles fed to them, settling in for their naps, having snack and beginning to go home with their parents. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-B
Description: Based on record review, documentation of updated immunizations every six months for children under the age of two were not obtained. Evidence: Child #1 date of birth is 6/20/2016 and the most recent documentation of immunizations is dated 1/6/17.

Plan of Correction: I'll email the parent and ask them to bring me a copy.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-50-A
Description: Based on observation, children's records were not treated confidentially. Evidence: A list of children's food allergies and preferences including the children's pictures, first and last name was posted in the Infant B classroom. This information was not covered.

Plan of Correction: I'll print another cover and we'll get it posted.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on record review, children's records did not contain all required information. Evidence: Child #5 file is missing the street addresses for both two out of two emergency contacts.

Plan of Correction: I'll reach out to that parent this afternoon to get that information.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place. Evidence: There were various cleaning materials in the closet of the Transitional Kindergarten classroom. This closet was not locked.

Plan of Correction: We'll move the cleaning supplies into another closet that locks.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-D
Description: Based on observation, cleaning materials were not stored separate from food equipment. Evidence: There are various cleaning and sanitizing materials stored on the same shelf with children's sippy cups under the counter in the Infant A classroom.

Plan of Correction: We'll move the cleaning materials.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-450-A
Description: Based on observation, one child did not have a top cover to use during their designated rest time. Evidence: Child #7 was observed laying on their cot with a bottom sheet during nap time. The child did not have a top sheet/blanket.

Plan of Correction: We have extra blankets but the child never wants one.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-A
Description: Based on observation, over-the-counter skin products were kept beyond their expiration date. Evidence: Child #6's diaper cream had expired 4/2017 and had not been returned to the parents.

Plan of Correction: I'll get rid of the diaper cream.
