- Technical Assistance:
An exit meeting was completed by the licensing inspector with the center's director/owner to review today's inspection findings.
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection on Friday, December 22, 2017 from approximately 10:00 am to 12:00 pm to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The owner/director and assistant director were present and assisted the licensing inspector throughout this inspection. The licensing inspector was notified by staff that the center will close today at noon for the upcoming holiday. The census for today's inspection consisted of 29 children being adequately supervised and cared for by staff. The licensing inspector completed observations of the children in care completing a variety of activities to include the school aged children watching the movie, Frosty the Snowman, and playing at the outdoor playground area with staff providing adequate supervision. The Infants were observed in their designated area asleep, sitting in highchairs being fed by staff, and engaged in play on the floor with age appropriate equipment. The diapering area and refrigerator were inspected to ensure compliance with requirements. A formal observation was completed by the inspector of the children in the Twos group in which they were observed at the outdoors playground area engaged in play with various available equipment and interacting with peers and staff. The licensing inspector completed some observations of the children during parent pick up today as well. The licensing inspector also interacted with the children and the staff when appropriate. The staff were observed interacting with the children and providing assistance when needed. During this inspection, the classrooms, playground areas, bathrooms, and designated areas were inspected to ensure compliance and overall safety of the children in care. There were age appropriate toys and materials for the children observed throughout the classroom settings. The required postings were reviewed and determined to be in compliance. The following information was reviewed: daily attendance, menu, fire,shelter-in-place, lockdown drills, and liability insurance policy. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. There were four children?s records and five staff's records reviewed during this inspection. During this inspection, the inspector reviewed the certificates of completion for the VA Pre-service training and First Aid/CPR of the staff's records to ensure compliance with requirements. There are multiple staff with current MAT and Daily Health Observation training on site.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of staff records, the center did not ensure a central registry finding for a staff was received within 30 days of employment or volunteer service. Evidence: In Staff#3's (date of hire 08/14/17) record, there was no recorded findings of a central registry check document found in the record. Plan of Correction: Before end of this year-next week I will call and re-mail Central Registry for the staff.
