Technical Assistance:
We discussed the requirements for immunization records for children under age two. Also, we talked about the changes with child abuse registry checks. You were advised of the importance of viewing all email communication from the Division of Licensing. Also, we reviewed your procedures for staff supervision positions during the back playground use.

Comments:
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced inspection conducted from 9:40 AM to 1:20 PM and from 4:50 PM to 5:20 PM. Today, there were 68 children, infancy through school age, with fourteen staff. I viewed program activities, equipment, staffing, supervision, interactions with children, infant care and records, menu, nutrition, injury records, emergency supplies and drill records, agency inspection reports, medication, eight records for children, nine staff records staff qualifications, staff training, posted information, diapering procedures, indoor and outdoor areas. The children have enjoyed seasonal and holiday activities and discussions. Regular outdoor experiences have been available for all age groups. The teachers were seen providing frequent interactions with children. The center recently obtained N.A.E.Y.C. accreditation. Let me know if you need any assistance or have further issues with email communication. 540/430-9259

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-B
Description: Based on a review of eight records for children, and interviews with administrative staff, the center failed to obtain documentation of additional immunization every six months for child 4 who was under age two years. Evidence: Child 4 will not be two years of age until May 2018 and the last updated immunization report was obtained February 6, 2017.

Plan of Correction: Administrative staff will request and obtain an additional immunization record. The administrative staff immediately initiated a review of the system they were using for determining a need for the six month updated immunization records for all children under age two. A monthly date was established for checking on any need for updating immunization records.
