- Technical Assistance:
Standard 550 was discussed with the program director. The use of tone and positive redirection was also discussed.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Upon arrival there were 18 children in care with 2 staff members. A sample of 2 staff and 3 children's records were reviewed. There were no medications at the time of inspection. Children were observed during a bathroom break, eating snack, reading a books and doing homework.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-B Description: Based on a record review and interview with the director the center failed to ensure the emergency preparedeness plan contained all procedural components. Evidence: The center's emergency plans included an evacuation, shelter-in-place and intruder plans, however did not contain the following components: for each: sounding of the alarms, emergency communication, assembly points, head count, secondary means of egress, method of communication. Plan of Correction: The director will write an emergency plan to include all required components that is specific to this location.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on a record review and interview with staff the center failed to implement a monthly practice evacuation drills. Evidence: The center did not have documentation of having practiced a fire drill for 4 months since they opened in September. The director stated she did not have documentation of the drills. Plan of Correction: The drills have been done however, they were not documented. The director will begin documenting all emergency drills in the licensing notebook.
