Technical Assistance:
Reviewed with the licensee new background regulations, the requirement for injury requiring outside medical treatment and playground resilient surfacing.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on January 24, 2018. There were fifty-five child present with eight staff members. Additional staff were on site for administrative and support purposes. The licensing inspector observed napping procedures in all classrooms and children reading in the Pre-K classroom. The licensing inspector reviewed staffing and supervision, required posting, indoor and outdoor areas, staff records, children's records, nutrition, first aid and emergency supplies and equipment. Five children's records and five staff records were reviewed. The exit interview was conducted with the Program Director.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center, inside shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on January 24, 2018, the licensing inspector observed multiple places in the building with green peeling paint. In the school age classroom, there was a electric outlet plastic cover broken with sharp edges.

Plan of Correction: The program director said the plan is to repaint the building in 30 days. If not she will contact the licensing inspector if unable to meet the deadline.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on January 24, 2018, in the Wobblers/ Toddlers classroom, the licensing inspector observed a can of disinfectant spray, and a can of air freshener spray in an unlocked cabinet. All items were labeled keep out of reach of children and warning or caution.

Plan of Correction: The director will have all staff keep all chemicals and hazardous substances in locked cabinet.
