Upon receiving a medication, please review the medication authorization carefully to be clear on the prescriber's instructions for administration of that medication.
A complaint investigation was conducted on January 10, 11, 18, 2018. An onsite center investigation was conducted on January 16, 2018. The exit meeting was conducted with the center director and educational specialist on January 24, 2018. Based on interviews and documentation review, the complaint regarding a medication error was determined to be Not Valid. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-L Complaint related: No Description: Based on interviews and a review of the medication log, the center failed to keep a record of medication given to a child in care. Evidence: Two staff administered medication to Child A at least three times without documenting this in the medication log. Plan of Correction: The director created and implemented a system for medication accountability (recordkeeping, administration, documentation, etc.) at the center. The director will oversee and manage all medications for the center.
