A renewal inspection was conducted on 2/12/18 at 7:15 a. m. and concluded at 10:00 a. m. The inspector met with the staff and Child Day Center standards were reviewed. There were 43 school-age children present with three staff present. The children were observed engaged in table top activities which include Legos, Blocks, Art, Magnetic Blocks, and Games. Later a group of children were offered an opportunity to play in the gym. Ten children records were reviewed. Five medications were reviewed. No staff files are on site. Conversations were held with several staff and children. One classroom observation conducted.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on review of medication procedures the center did not ensure methods to prevent use of an outdated medication. Evidence: On 2/12/18, child #1 had a medication that had expired 1/2018. Per the medication log child #1 had received the expired medication on 2/7/18 and 2/8/18. Plan of Correction: Per Director, we will no longer administer expired medication. The expired medication will be returned to the parent the month that it expires. We will obtain new medication and MAT form for this child from the parent.
