Fingerprint and other background check requirements were reviewed.
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring renewal inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15. p.m. There were 17 children in care with 2 staff supervising all times. The children were observed going to lunch, during lunch, playing at centers, being read to, and watching a cartoon. Five children?s records were reviewed. Two staff records and board officer records were reviewed at the main office in the afternoon. Violations from the previous inspection were also reviewed and had been corrected. The playground has been blocked off and is not in use due to maintenance. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, there were hazardous substances that were not kept locked. 1. The inspector observed a spray can of disinfectant and a bottle of toilet cleaner that were both labeled keep out of reach of children under the children's sink that was unlocked. Plan of Correction: The director corrected during the inspection; items were locked in the cabinet. Director and staff will check daily that the custodian has not left cleaning supplies unlocked under the sink or elsewhere.
