The following was discussed with the program director: Medication New USDA Regulations Requirements for Emergency Preparedness Plans Guiding behaviors
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 3:45pm-5:45pm. Upon arrival there were 13 children in care with 2 staff present. A sample of 3 children's records were reviewed. The center does not provide transportation. Children were observed eating dinner, during hand washing, playing table top toys and during circle.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure all electrical outlets had protective covers. Evidence: The center had preschool children in care at the time of inspection. The room used for the program had 6 electrical outlets that did not have covers. All were in reach of the children in care. Plan of Correction: The program director provided the following plan of correction during the exit interview. Outlet protectors will be purchased and extras will be kept to ensure all outlets are always covered.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-B Description: Based on a record review and interview with the program director, the center failed to ensure the emergency preparedness plan contained all procedural components. Evidence: When asked for the center's emergency preparedness plan, the director provided a document entitled, "Champions Best Practices." The emergency procedures outlined in the document did not include, emergency communication to establish an emergency officer and back-up, identify who will notify local authorities, , securing of essential files and health supplies, training requirements or plan review. Plan of Correction: The program director provided the following plan of correction during the exit interview. The program director will review the standards and add all required components to the emergency plan.
