- Technical Assistance:
Discussion to document follow up information on the copies of what has been sent to the central registry of those requests that were not returned within 30 days. Today's example was for Staff #3 who's request was mailed on 01/02/2018 but was returned and then sent again. Without the Director's verbal explanation, it gave the appearance that no contact had been made. Discussion was also held on the topics of current enrollment, current staffing, and a review of changes to background checks with regards to expiration dates, new fingerprint checks to be done through Fieldprint of Virginia & Office of Background Investigations (OBI), new sworn disclosure statements, and to obtain CPS checks from other states as listed from the past five years. The roll out for the new fingerprint checks occurred on January 22, 2018. All finger print checks for existing employees must be started for each according to the established time table and then completed by September 30, 2018. New employees will not be allowed to start until an ?Eligibility Letter? is on file.
The following inspection took place between the hours of 10 am through 1:30 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of KinderCare Learning Center #926 located in the town of Leesburg, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 28 children with 6 classroom staff; good ratios in all 4 rooms. A total of 5 children?s files and 5 staff files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: diaper changing, hand washing, infant feeding, infant sleeping, center activities within each classroom, story time, clean up, bathroom breaks, lunch time, nap time, and other organized activities. If you should have any future questions, please call. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-B Description: Based on review, 1 of 5 children's files reviewed indicated that the center did not obtain documentation of additional immunizations once every six months for a child under the age of two years. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (02/08/2018), the most current immunization page on file for Child #2 was dated - 07/28/2017. 2. On the date of inspection, based on information on file, Child #2 was under the age of two years. Plan of Correction: An updated immunization page shall be obtained for Child #2 and placed on file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation and interview, a piece of equipment inside the center was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (02/08/2018), a toilet located in the bathroom off of the 2's room is missing its back porcelain tank cover. Instead, a sheet of plastic has been taped in its place. 2. The Center Director stated (during an interview conducted on the date of inspection) that the original cover had busted into pieces on the floor. Plan of Correction: Center maintenance has been contacted to replace this plastic cover with an actual real toilet cover.
