Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on observation, two staff members did not wash their hands with soap and running water before and after a diaper change. Evidence: In classroom 212 and 213, two staff members were observed changing children's diapers. The staff members used a pair of disposable gloves to change diapers and did not wash their hands. Plan of Correction: Reviewed diapering policy with staff.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure diapering areas were equipped with a sink with running water and soap for hand washing. Evidence: In classrooms, 211, 212, 213, and 214, diaper changing tables are available for the toddlers in diapers, however, there are not sinks in these classrooms for hand washing. Plan of Correction: Will be purchasing either portable sinks or looking into putting in permanent sinks. Have already requested quotes for both. (sic) As for the interim solution, we have purchased (waiting for delivery) sanitizer for each classroom that they can use until staff can get to a sink.
