During the inspection, the licensing representative discussed with administrators an emergency medication that will expire for a child at the end of the month, updates to the background/fingerprinting procedures, children's emergency contacts and immunization requirements for children under the age of 2 years old.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 1:20pm-3:30pm. At the time of entrance, 39 children were in care of 5 staff members present. Children were observed during nap, handwashing, snack time, and various group activities. A selection of 5 staff and 5 children records, medications, emergency drills and other documents were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place. Evidence: 2 cleansers were observed on a counter in an unlocked kitchen located in between 2 classrooms. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection; Moved to a locked cabinet.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F Description: Based on observation and discussion with staff, requirements for proving meals or snacks were not met. Evidence: A menu for the current week was not posted or distributed to parents. Plan of Correction: The menu is being worked on and will be posted.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-B Description: Based on a review of records, an employee did not complete the required sworn disclosure statement. Evidence: Staff #1 [date of hire: 8/7/17] and #4 [date of hire: 7/11/17] did not complete the updated sworn disclosure statement that inquires whether the staff member has resided outside of the state of Virginia within the past five years. Plan of Correction: We will have the staff complete the updated form.
