Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 2/20/18 from 10:05am - 11:10am. During the inspection there were six children ages eleven months old through five years old in care with two staff. Children were observed participating in various activities in the classrooms. Records were reviewed for five children and five staff. There was no medication at the facility. Emergency procedures and emergency supplies were reviewed during the inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that all hazardous substances shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. If a key is used, the key shall not be accessible to the children. Evidence: 1. In the classroom located in the center of the facility adjacent to the kitchen, there were two bottles of hand sanitizer that were on two different shelves. 2. The bottles of hand sanitizer contained the statements that read "Keep out of the reach of children" and "harmful if swallowed" 3. Staff#4 (Program Director) confirmed the two bottles of hand sanitizer were not stored in a locked place.

Plan of Correction: The facility responded: Corrected during the inspection by removing the bottles from the classroom and placing them in a locked closet. Teachers will be reminded to store any hazardous substances in a locked place.
