22VAC40-185 STAFFING AND SUPERVISION.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-E Description: Based on staff statement, the center did not follow it's own policies for bottle feeding. Evidence: Management stated that staff are to do a name to bottle label check prior to feeding the infant. On 1/11/2018 an infant was fed the wrong bottle of breastmilk. Staff did not realize the wrong bottle was provided until half way through the feeding. Plan of Correction: On date of incident we immediately retrained all staff on universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens and Kindercare name to face bottle feeding procedures.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A Description: Based on interviews, center staff did not ensure the care and protection of a child in care. Evidence: On 1/11/2018, Staff A provided Staff B a bottle of breastmilk belonging to Child #1 to feed Child #2. Staff B realized while feeding Child #2 that the bottle of breastmilk was labeled for Child #1. Plan of Correction: On date of incident we immediately retrained all staff on universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens and kindercare name to face bottle feeding procedures.
