22VAC40-185 PHYSICAL PLANT.
Today an unannounced renewal visit was conducted with the Assistant Director this visit took place in the morning between 9:30-12 there were 5 classrooms observed with a total of 53 children with 10 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed having morning free play in the multipurpose room, science, snack, pretend play, story-time and dismissal. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, medication, liability insurance and emergency procedures. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation of the physical plant, the following areas were found not being maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: Chipped/peeling paint were found in the multipurpose room along the door and the walls. visible cracks were found along the radiator covers which could present a finger entrapment in the multipurpose room. Plan of Correction: Assistant Director stated they will explore replacing the radiator cover, and will contact building manager to have doors and walls painted.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, cleaning materials were found unlocked and accessible to children. Evidence: A cleaning solution was found attached to a mop in the 3's classrooms accessible to children. Sanitizing wipes were found accessible to children in the 2's classroom. Plan of Correction: Staff immediately removed it from the classroom and placed in a locked cabinet.
