An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed today 3/7/2018. There were 26 children in care on the day of the inspection with seven staff. Five children's and five staff's records reviewed during the inspection. A physical plant walk through was completed, and observations of the children. The inspector arrived at 10:20 am and departed the program at 2:30 pm. Discussion with licensee about emergency plan and transportation plan.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation of the infant and toddler room, the center failed to ensure that all areas and equipment inside and outside was maintained in an safe, clean and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The strip between the two classroom was loose and had a screw that was protruding up and posed a protrusion hazard to the children. Plan of Correction: The owner will ensure that the screw will be replaced ASAP.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F-4 Description: Based on observation of lunch time, the center failed to ensure that all food offered to children three years and younger were not considered choking hazards. Evidence: 1. Observed in the preschool classroom; two three year olds being served sliced hot dogs. Hot dogs are to be minced when served to children ages three and under. Plan of Correction: The director will make sure that all children are not served choke hazards.
