The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection from 10:30am - 1:30pm. There were thirteen preschool children in care with two staff. The center was on a snow schedule today. The children were observed arriving at the center, at circle time, in group activities and during lunch. Two staff's records and five children's records were reviewed. Violations from the previous inspection were also reviewed and one was repeated. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. If you have any questions, please contact your licensing inspector at (276) 608-3758. Thank you for your cooperation.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center failed to maintain outside play equipment in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the playgrounds. On the upper playground there is a bouncing airplane ride toy. The ground supports on the back of the airplane are not covered. There are two bolts that are protruding from the ground supports that could entangle clothing or snag skin. There is also a play bus on this same playground. The grill on the front of the bus is rusty. Plan of Correction: The teacher will complete a maintenance request today. The children will not use this equipment until maintenance is completed.
