Licensing Inspector arrived at 9:45am and departed at 1:15pm to conduct a Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection. At the time of the tour there were 120 children in care with 15 staff present. Children were observed eating lunch, some were already down for nap. Infants were observed sleeping in cribs, being held and during a diaper change. A sample of 3 staff and 10 children's records were reviewed in addition to 1 medication.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-M Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure staff sat with children during meals. Evidence: In the school age room a staff member was observed sitting at a separate table eating her lunch while the children in care ate their lunch at a separate table during lunch. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action plan was provided by the assistant director during the exit interview: The staff will be spoken to about eating with with children during meals. This will be included in the staff memo that goes out on Friday. Management will monitor.
