An exit interview was conducted with the director to discuss the results of today's inspection. Consultation was given regarding updated background check requirements.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today, March 16, 2018 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The inspection was initiated at 2:40pm and concluded at approximately 5:00pm. Upon arrival, the following ratios were observed: Two year old classroom: 5 children/1 staff (nap time ratio) Three year old classroom: 9 children/1 staff (nap time ratio) Four year old classroom: 12 children/ 2 staff Five year old classroom: 10 children/ 2 staff Children were observed asleep on mats, using the restroom, coloring pictures, and playing with toys. Today children participated in a St. Patrick's Day party with all green foods. All areas used by children were inspected to include the main hallways, restrooms, classrooms, and common areas. The center had the required postings displayed on the wall and bulletin board in the main hallway. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected with the required supplies found. Eight children's records, four staff records, and board member background checks were inspected with the required information present. The following was also inspected on this day: annual fire & health inspections, fire/shelter-in-place drills, emergency preparedness plan, injury prevention plan & annual updates, liability insurance certificate, parent agreements, and other pertinent information. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on the inspection of administrative records, the required staff documentation was not present to review. Evidence: During the inspection of four staff records, it was discovered that staff #1 did not have documentation that two or more references have been checked or reference letters received. Plan of Correction: Corrected on site.
