Discussion was held on the topics of current enrollment, current staffing, and a review of changes to background checks with regards to expiration dates, new fingerprint checks to be done through Fieldprint of Virginia & Office of Background Investigations (OBI), new sworn disclosure statements, and to obtain CPS checks from other states as listed from the past five years. The roll out for the new fingerprint checks occurred on January 22, 2018. All finger print checks for existing employees and board officers must be started for each according to the established time table and then completed by September 30, 2018. New employees will not be allowed to start until an ?Eligibility Letter? is on file. Discussion of relocating or adjusting a toy "car garage" that is being stored on top of an upper cabinet within the 2 1/2 through 3's Program Room.
The following inspection took place between the hours of 9:30 am through 12 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the Douglass Community Center located in Leesburg, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 24 children with 4 staff; good ratios in both rooms. A total of 5 children?s files were reviewed. Staff files shall be reviewed on a future date through the PRCS main office. The children were engaged in the following: center play within each room, story time, music, toy play, blocks, bathroom break, hand washing, snack, learning, and other organized activities. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-D Description: Based on observation, cleaning materials were located above utensils, and single-service articles. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (03/15/2018), in an upper cabinet above the sink within the Enrichment Program Room, cleaning materials were observed being stored above plastic utensils and plastic serving, single-use gloves. 2. These items (the utensils and gloves) were to be for special occasions. Plan of Correction: Corrected on the date of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on review, a medication on site, to be used on an as needed basis, has expired. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (03/15/2018), a medication prescribed for Child #1 was observed on site with an expiration date of 12/2017. 2. Child #1, while not in attendance today, has been in attendance since December, and is expected to be in attendance tomorow. Plan of Correction: The Parent of Child #1 was contacted today (03/15/2018). The medication shall be returned tomorrow and another current medication shall be obtained (as prescribed by the child's doctor) to replace the one that had expired.
