Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 11:40am and 1:20pm. At the start of the inspection there were a total of 20 children with 4 staff; all ratios were incompliance. A total of 4 children?s files and 3 staff files were reviewed. The children were observed playing outside on the playground, coming inside to wash their hands, eating lunch (the children bring their meals from home) and taking their naps. It is Spring Break this week and the Kindergartner and School Age group were observed leaving on a field trip to Chuck E Cheese. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your cooperation during this inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place that prevents access by children. Evidence: There is a bleach cleaner and window cleaner stored in the cabinet of the Kindergarten classroom. The lock to the cabinet was hanging on the cabinet handle unlocked. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection. We tell them during all of our trainings.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, one electrical outlet did not have a protective cover. Evidence: An outlet near the children's coat rack in the preschool classroom was missing an outlet cover. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-F Description: Based on observation, children under the age of 10 years of age were not always within sight and sound supervision of staff. Evidence: At the start of the inspection, the inspector entered the preschool classroom and one child was sitting at a table by themselves opening their lunch. The rest of the class and the two teachers were down the hall washing their hands to prepare for lunch. The rest of the class and teachers entered the classroom approximately 1 minute later. Plan of Correction: I spoke with the teachers already. The child was hungry because they didn't eat their snack this morning so they decided to start eating lunch before the rest of the class.
