Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included required postings, new regulations concerning fingerprinting, and children's physical and immunization forms. Training in diabetes is mandated if you a have a child recently enrolled. To find out more, see the MAT website. We also discussed specific treatment for specific situations.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 12:20 - 2:45 pm today. There were 14 children present with three staff for the extended day program. I observed a quiet naptime to stories on tape, and watched children come in from the rain, wash hands, practice songs for an upcoming special spring presentation and prepare for the afternoon. If you have any questions, please contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-A
Description: Of a sample of children's shot records observed today, some do not have a statement that acknowledges that the child has received adequate immunizations as required by the Virginia State Board of Health. Evidence: The immunization records from out of the country for Child # 2 and 3 do not have documentation that the child has had adequate immunizations for their ages.

Plan of Correction: Contact the parents.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-D
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, the license was not posted in a place conspicuous to the public as required by 63.2-1701 of the Code of Virginia. Evidence: The license was posted in an inner room behind a door.

Plan of Correction: We will post it in the front.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there was a hazardous substance that was not kept in a locked place as required. Evidence: There was a spray deodorizer located in an unlocked cabinet under the sink in the children's bathroom today.

Plan of Correction: We will find somewhere else to store it.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E
Description: Based on a review of records today, there were no fire drills documented for March 2018.

Plan of Correction: We will do two in April.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-3-D
Description: Based on a review of a sample of staff records, some background checks have expired. Evidence: The Criminal Record Check for Staff #1 expired 1/18; and the Search of the Child Protective Registry expired 10/17.

Plan of Correction: I will contact the owner and have the background checks updated
