Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection from 10:00am - 12:30pm. There were twenty seven children in care: four infants with two staff, eight toddlers with two staff and fifteen preschoolers with three staff. One additional staff was also present. The preschoolers were observed loading the bus and leaving for a field trip. The children remaining at the center were observed at free play, at circle time and during lunch. Five staff's records and five children's records were reviewed. One violation from the previous inspection had been corrected. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. If you have any questions, please contact your licensing inspector at (276) 608-3758. Thank you for your cooperation.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on record reviews, the center failed to obtain all required information for the children's records. Evidence: 1. The inspector reviewed five children's records. One of five records reviewed (child record #3) listed an allergy to a medication, but did not address actions to take in an emergency situation.

Plan of Correction: The teacher will contact the child's parents today and request this information.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to have all hazardous substances stored in a locked place. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the center. There were two cans of spray disinfectant in an unlocked cabinet in the hallway beside of the bathrooms.

Plan of Correction: The teacher moved the cans to a locked cabinet during the inspection. Staff will monitor to ensure all hazardous substances are stored in a locked place.
