22VAC40-185-(5)-340-C - During the stated hours of operation, there always shall be on the premises and on field trips when one or more children are present one staff member who meets the qualifications of a program leader or program director and an immediately available staff member, volunteer or other employee who is at least 16 years of age, with direct means for communication between the two of them.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director and one staff beginning at 3:30 PM and ending at 4:50 PM. There were seventeen school aged children in care during the inspection. The children were observed playing a ball game and eating snack which consisted of cereal and milk. Bathroom and hand washing procedures were also observed. Children were also observed doing their homework. Ten children's records and two staff records were reviewed and in compliance. Three medications were reviewed and in compliance. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather-band radio were observed and in compliance. The most recent emergency escape drill was documented as 3/14/18. The most recent shelter-in-place drill was documented as 11/14/17. The most recent lockdown drill was documented as 1/19/18. The most recent fire inspection was documented as 12/21/17.
