Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:20am to 12:45pm. 34 children were directly supervised by 7 staff members. Ratios were in compliance. The physical space, staff records, child records, evacuation drills, medications, the Emergency Preparedness plan, the menu and attendance records were reviewed. Face-to-Name Transition sheets were also reviewed. Required documents were posted. The menu today included ravioli, peas, pineapples and milk. Areas of noncompliance are identified in the Violation Notice. For questions, please contact stephanie.salvatori@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the site was not maintained in a clean manner. Evidence: Baseboards under the sinks in the early preschool room, the bathroom floors around the toilets and areas where the cabinet counters meet the wall in the sink area, contained dirt build up.

Plan of Correction: We have relieved our cleaning crew and are looking for a new cleaning company. In the meantime, the staff will be asked to help properly clean the areas.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B
Description: Based on observation, the center did not make sure disposable diapers were disposed of in a leakproof or plastic-lined storage system that is either foot operated or used in such a way that neither the staff member's hand nor the soiled diaper touches an exterior surface of the storage system during disposal. Evidence: Diapers in the 2 year old's classroom are disposed of in a trash can located in an enclosed drawer under the changing table. Staff members are required to touch the handle to pull the drawer open.

Plan of Correction: We will order a trash can with a foot pedal right away and change it out.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.

Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
