An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 2:00pm-3:15pm. At the time of entrance, 27 children were in care with 2 staff members present. Children were observed during check in, free play and . A selection of staff and children records, medications, evacuation drill log and other documents were reviewed. Both Staff on site are certified in CPR, first aid and have MAT training. Staff files were reviewed on an earlier date. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N Description: Based on review, when an authorization for medication expires, medication that expired was not returned to the parent within 14 days or disposed of by the center by either dissolving the medication down the sink or flushing it down the toilet. Evidence: 1. Child F had an medication authorization for an emergency medication that was signed by the doctor and parent on 3/29/2017. The authorization form expired on 3/29/2018 and should be renewed at least every 12 months. Plan of Correction: I will have the parent sign a short term authorization for medication form or return the medication until the parent is able to get the doctor's signature on the form.
